Logical Phallusies

Patriarchy Says: Males, Deep; Females, Shallow

Men are praised and fêted for writing about the virgins they deflowered; the women they chased, seduced, and abandoned; the men they maimed or killed.

Women are trivialized as superficial for writing about the consequences – hearts, bodies, and souls mangled and broken.

Dismissed for writing domestic soap opera, sob-stories, sentimental slop, tear-jerkers, romances, bodice rippers, chick-lit.

The Patriarchy tells us that male experiences are significant, deep, and worthy material for an author.

Female experiences are insignificant, shallow, and immaterial.
