This topic has two manifestations: 

  1. Biases masquerading as “scientific truths”

First, Science has never been neutral in the way it studies, experiments on, analyses, and reports on females – whether human or animal.  These biases, masquerading as “scientific truths”, have contributed significantly to justifying the inferior treatment of women and to seeing females in all species as submissive, lesser creatures, which are sub-standard copies of the male version.   

  1. Women’s role in STEM (or lack thereof)

Second, women have historically been discouraged from going into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) fields. And while we have in the past century progressed leaps and bounds as the percentage of women employed in scientific positions increases, Society is still plagued by centuries of inequity that need to be unraveled before women are made whole.

Women Enjoy Sex – Outrageous!

The tiny female clitoris has over 8,000 nerve endings – more than the entire male penis.
The only reason the clitoris exists is to provide women with pleasure.

Science texts would extol its existence and show how it proves male biological superiority, leading naturally to male dominance and female submissiveness.

No wonder they cut it off in so many Patriarchal cultures.
And if a Patriarchy doesn’t excise it, they erase it – both sexes are kept ignorant of its existence.

Biology is NOT destiny.

The fact that a woman is biologically determined to have a womb tells you she MAY GET pregnant.

It tells you nothing whatsoever about what she can or cannot do.

Biology – slave of patriarchy?

Because of a fluke of evolution, most males must “mount” a female. This means the male is “on top of” the female.

Interesting how a mere physical position, in what is often a few seconds long encounter, only one tiny activity in an animal’s life-time of activities, has come to be seen as justification for male dominance.

〰 ⚤ 〰

Even more interesting is how Science, which prides itself on its neutrality, so often uses sexist, patriarchal language.

〰 ⚤ 〰

Indeed, Science is too often the worst offender in the use of this word-play which maintains the sexual status quo.

〰 ⚤ 〰

Word-play which perpetuates the missionary position which defines our culture – men on top.

A science text talks about roosters using courting moves to coax hens into submission to copulation.

Interesting how supposedly “neutral” science is so skewed towards seeing male dominance and female submission.

Since he won’t be getting any without her cooperation, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to say roosters use their courting moves to coax hens into providing permission for copulation?

The Irony of PMS

The level of the female hormone, estrogen, is lowest in a woman just before she menstruates.

Isn’t that ironic? If PMS exists, it occurs when we have the least amount of female hormones in our bodies, when we are the least female.

The only biological function females cannot perform is impregnation. The only biological functions males cannot perform are pregnancy and nursing.

Now read a biology text:
Female control over sex is always described as “submission”, while male pleading is described as “dominance”.
